The streets of Santo Domingo They have the incorporation of the first fully electric transport units in the night service of the Kennedy corridor, as part of the modernization process and commitment to more efficient, economical and sustainable transport for citizens.
Thanks to the initiative, executed by the National Center of Unified Transporters (CNTU), the electric buses will circulate on the route that operates from John F. Kennedy and Duarte avenues with Paris to kilometer 28 of the Duarte highway, with a fare of RD$45 and a capacity of 18 passengers per unit.
The details were offered yesterday by the president of the organization, Williams Pérez Figuerero, who indicated that the routes will be enabled from 11:00 at night until 5:00 in the morning.
He clarified that they will have permanent surveillance, adequate lighting and the support of the National Police and the Ministry of Defense, offering a safe and efficient alternative to carry out night errands in Santo Domingo.
Meanwhile, Charlie Sánchez, general manager of Aurora Technology and one of the businessmen who brought the innovative electric unit to the country, reiterated that the transportation sector can be modernized with technology and, at the same time, benefit the population with fairer rates.
With this incorporation, the CNTU reaffirms its commitment to continue transforming public transportation, prioritizing the quality and safety of users as well as cost reduction.
