Change of determination, the blind young woman will be admitted to the Catholic school of Melo
Bishop Pablo Jourdan intervened and the decision that prevented the blind teenager from entering the Catholic school was revoked.
The situation had arisen at the María Auxiliadora de Melo Private School and was corrected after the intervention of the Bishop of the diocese.
In the last few hours, a situation arose that caused discomfort in a family in our area, after the blind teenager Clarita Cheveste was not initially admitted to continue her studies at the María Auxiliadora Private School.
As reported, Clarita Cheveste (who had already been part of another Primary institution, Colegio Dámaso) must continue her educational career in secondary school this year.
Thus, her parents attended the María Auxiliadora school, and in the first instance they admitted her to attend this year, however, a second decision adopted, a few hours ago, established that they were not going to admit her definitively, citing certain conditions.
The incident became public after a publication made by his brother, colleague Sebastián Cheves, who respectfully made the situation known and raised the family’s concern about what happened.
Faced with this scenario, the bishop of the diocese, Pablo Jourdan, intervened, who has maintained a close bond with the family since the years when Clarita Cheveste attended the Dámaso Larrañaga School.
According to what was stated, the bishop personally communicated with Clarita Cheveste’s mother, recognized that the decision made was a mistake and conveyed that the educational institution “It is open to everyone.” In this framework, the revocation of the resolution that prevented their entry was ordered.
When consulted by EL PROFESIONAL, Monsignor Jourdan confirmed that the situation was corrected.
Now it will be in the hands of the family to decide whether to ratify the enrollment in the María Auxiliadora Private School or whether to opt for Liceo No. 2, an institution that also has technical tools to accompany educational processes.
