They ask for action in Congress
On the other hand, this Thursday, congresswomen Ruth Luque, Flor Pablo and Silvana Robles sent a joint letter to the president of the Ethics Commission, Elvis Vergara, with the aim of initiating an ex officio investigation against his colleague Milagros Jáuregui for having revictimized and attacked the principle of the best interests of girls and adolescents.
“This conduct would violate article 6 of the Children and Adolescents Code and could constitute a crime of violation of personal or family privacy, provided for in article 156 of the Penal Code. In addition, it would constitute a clear violation of the duty of conduct of congressmen,” they noted.
Flor Pablo also questioned that the minors were presented at a public activity with their babies in their arms, as was shown in images posted on social networks.
“There is a belief that above the security of the lives of these girls is the protection of the life that is yet to be born. I believe that there is an issue of belief that we have to say clearly.. “We cannot allow 10 or 12 year old girls who have been raped to become mothers.”he stated.
However, the president of the Ethics Commission, Elvis Vergara, sent a letter to Jáuregui to provide, as soon as possible, a detailed report on the disputed facts.
They file a criminal complaint
But that’s not the point. Gahela Cari, congressional candidate for Venceremos, criminally denounced congresswoman Milagros Jáuregui for the alleged commission of the crime of serious injury due to psychological affectation, under the modality of commission by omission.
According to the complaint, the legislator would have assumed an active and sustained role in the reception and accompaniment of these minors, who were in a situation of dependency aggravated by their age and their condition as victims of sexual violence.
Despite all these questions, Jáuregui ruled out that he would renounce his candidacy for the Senate for Popular Renewal. because “he didn’t do anything.” According to her, she called the attention of the shelter management for having exposed the minors; although he said that the event was private, despite the images indicating otherwise.
Jáuregui must give his defense before the Special Electoral Jury of Lima Center 1, which presented a report that concludes that it would have violated neutrality ahead of the general elections next April 12.
