The fugitive leader of Peru Libre, Vladimir Cerrón, filed a compensation claim for S/ 8 million 600 thousand against the Peruvian State before the Civil Court of the Superior Court of Justice of Junín. The action was filed by his mother, Bertha Rojas López, who acts as his attorney because she is in an undocumented status. The appeal is directed against the Judiciary, the Public Ministry and the Comptroller’s Office.

The amount claimed is broken down into S/ 7.5 million for moral damage and impact on his life project, S/ 1 million for lost profits and S/ 100 thousand for consequential damage, in addition to interest and procedural costs. Cerrón has remained in hiding since October 2023.
