MIAMI, United States. – The Progressive International announced the launch of the “Our America Flotilla”, a maritime mission that, according to its organizerswill set sail “next month” from the Caribbean Sea bound for Cuba to transport food, medicine and other “urgently necessary” supplies in a context of fuel shortages and restrictions.
The announcement was released this Thursday in the website enabled by the coalition to gather support and coordinate the initiative.
“The Trump Administration is suffocating the Island, cutting off the supply of fuel, flights and goods essential for survival,” the call reads. The organization presented the flotilla as an effort to “break the siege, save lives and defend Cuban self-determination” and maintained that “the consequences are lethal, both for newborns and their mothers and fathers, as well as for the elderly and the sick.”
“We are preparing to sail to Cuba for the same reason we traveled on the Sumud Global Flotilla to Gaza: to break the siege, bring food and medicine, and demonstrate that solidarity can cross any border or sea,” he told The Day David Adler, general coordinator of the Progressive International.
The Mexican media also reported that the coalition plans to hold “its first assembly this coming Sunday” in order to advance logistics, coordinate volunteering and manage the acquisition of humanitarian supplies.
The Progressive International defines itself as a transnational coalition created to “unite, organize and mobilize” “progressive forces” on different continents. The coalition, created in May 2020, has grown to include “more than 100 organizations” representing “millions of people” on every inhabited continent.
The initiative itself is presented as a global platform to coordinate actions around democracy, sustainability and justice.
Regarding its composition, it has two notable public structures: a council of advisors, to which it attributes the definition of strategic direction, and a list of members (affiliated organizations) classified by region and field of work.
The organization has promoted international campaigns and statements, including humanitarian maritime initiatives. In August 2025, he was tasked with taking the “Global Sumud Flotilla” to Gaza.
