The Argentine coach Jorge Sampaoli has been dismissed as coach of the Atlético Mineiro after a bad start to the season, as reported this Thursday by the Brazilian club.
“Jorge Sampaoli is no longer the coach of Atlético Mineiro. After a meeting in the ‘Cidade do Galo’, this Thursday afternoon, the parties reached an understanding to terminate the coach’s contract,” The Belo Horizonte club communicated on its social networks.
Bad start in the Brasileirao
The departure of Casilda’s coach comes a day after Mineiro drew at home against the newly promoted Remo (3-3) on the third day of the Brazilian Championship.
The black and white team, which has made a great effort to strengthen itself in this last transfer market, still does not know what it is to win in the league, with a balance of two draws and one defeat that has placed it on the edge of the relegation zone.
“The club thanks Jorge Sampaoli and his coaching staff for the services provided and wishes them success in the continuation of their professional careers,” the directive expressed in the note.
End of a cycle that began in September
The former coach of Chile and Argentina Thus ending his second stage at Atlético Mineiro, which began last September.
During this period the team reached the final of the Copa Sudamericana, which, however, lost in the penalty shootout against the Lanus Argentine, after drawing without goals in regulation time.
In addition to managing Mineiro, Sampaoli has also coached the Brazilians Saints and Flamengo.
