Santo Domingo.—The president Luis Abinader appointed this Thursday Maira Margarita Morla Pineda like new general director of the National Institute of Vocational Technical Training (INFOTEP)through the Decree no. 95-26.
The appointment is made in compliance with the Law no. 116which creates INFOTEP and establishes that its general director must be chosen by the Executive power from a shortlist presented by the Board of Directors of the Institute. On this occasion, the shortlist was sent on February 10, 2026 and also included Luis Manuel Rodríguez Acosta and Luis Hernani Beltré Mesa.
Morla Pineda has more than three decades of experience at INFOTEP, where he has held senior management positions. Until his appointment, he served as deputy general director (2014-2026)after having been central regional manager, south and southwest regional directorand responsible for various strategic areas linked to the business and labor competitiveness.

Is Graduate in Accounting for the Dominican O&M University and owns master’s degrees in Senior Management and Education for him INTECin addition to a Postgraduate in Administration of Technical Education and Vocational Training. Throughout his career he has promoted technological modernization projects, renewable energies, international quality certifications under ISO 9001 standardsas well as programs articulation with productive sectors national and international. He has also represented the country on stages such as the WorldSkills World Assembly and in conferences on circular economy, tourism, free zones and vocational training.
