Caixa Econômica Federal begins paying the February installment of Bolsa Família, starting this Thursday (12) to beneficiaries with a Social Registration Number (NIS) ending at 1. Around 18.8 million families receive the benefit this month.
Beneficiaries from eight states will also receive the credit this Thursday, regardless of the final NIS number. The unified payment benefits locations in an emergency situation or in a state of public calamity in the states of Amazonas, Bahia, Piauí, Paraná, Rio Grande do Norte, Roraima, Santa Catarina and Sergipe.
The minimum value corresponds to R$600. In addition to the minimum benefit, there is the payment of three additional benefits. The Nutriz Family Variable Benefit pays six installments of R$50 to mothers of babies up to 6 months of age, to guarantee the child’s nutrition. Bolsa Família also pays an additional R$50 to families with pregnant women and children aged 7 to 18 and another R$150 to families with children up to 6 years old.
In the traditional Bolsa Família model, payment occurs in the last ten working days of each month. Because of Carnival, NIS final 1 and 2 beneficiaries will receive it in the second week of February.
The beneficiary will be able to consult information about payment dates, the value of the benefit and the composition of the installments in the Caixa Tem appused to track the bank’s digital savings accounts.
In addition to the full benefit, around 2 million families are covered by the protection rule in February. In force since June 2023, this rule allows families whose members get a job and improve their income to receive 50% of the benefit to which they would be entitled for up to two years, as long as each member receives the equivalent of up to half the minimum wage.
Since June last year, the length of stay in the protection rule was reduced from two to one year. However, those who entered the rule until May 2025 continue to receive half the benefit for two years.
Since 2024, Bolsa Família beneficiaries no longer have the Defeso Insurance discount. The change was established by Law 14,601/2023which rescued the Bolsa Família Program. Defeso Insurance is paid to people who survive exclusively from artisanal fishing and who cannot carry out the activity during the piracema period (fish reproduction).
