A good season in the lagoon according to the primary balance made by Mayor Rodolfo Conde
Although the weather was not favorable in the first half of January, the main authority of the Municipality said he was satisfied with the development of the current tourist season.
Among other things, he highlighted the collaboration of the Municipality and fundamentally of the Municipality of Río Branco both for the collection of waste and in the logistics part for the different events that were held.
He pointed out that there is a pronounced drop in the waters of Laguna Merín, which leads to extreme presence of the Municipality not only in cleaning but also in the conditioning of the increasingly large beach area.
“We knew that this season was going to promise a lot because we had a route in very good condition, which allows tourists to get there in a better way, a double access road that was very nice and was inaugurated in the last days of December” express Rodolfo Conde.
“It was a very good season in relation to the number of people who came to the spa” he opined. “In the first half of January the weather did not help, there were cold days, windy days, but there were always people because we talked to the Tour Operators and they told us that there was occupancy. On specific dates there were quite a few people, but since the weather was not so nice for the beach, they traveled a lot to Río Branco. It is another type of tourism that visitors do when the days are not good for going to the beach.” said the Mayor to the 1360 AM Radio Rio Branco.
“Then the weather improved and now -February- We also have a good presence of tourists in our spa. The beach area was very extensive because the water is very low, which makes people more dispersed. We have to do constant work at the sand level. Every day or every other day we are working with a tractor with a parrot and a shovel, equipment lent by the neighbors, to fix the wells that are left with the water downspout. That way we try to leave the sand as even as possible.” held.
Conde considered that the temperatures recorded in these first days of February have been more suitable for tourism than the entire month of January.
MANY PROPOSALS FOR VACATIONERS
He also highlighted the number of shows, contests and activities of different types that took place during this season. “In addition, the Youth Office was with 4 or 5 young people lending a hand in the parador area where they promoted different events, mainly of a sporting nature, but they also provided music for the days. They also helped in cleaning the beach in the afternoon” he acknowledged.
“Now in February, last weekend we had the meeting of old and classic cars on the esplanade of the parador where there were about 20 vehicles from Laguna, Río Branco, Melo, Yaguarón and Arroyo Grande” he detailed.
CARNIVAL IS COMING
“Looking forward, on February 17 and 19 we are going to have carnival. We are supporting the famous Pirates of the Lake who have been working for many years. They asked us to continue with this and we gave them support from the Municipality from an economic and logistical point of view. They obtained the support of the Municipality of Cerro Largo so today they are the ones in charge of the organization of the carnival activity” remarked the Mayor of Laguna Merín.
Arrangements are being made so that on the 18th a show can be held on the esplanade of the municipal inn. “We want to do things, we want to organize activities, but as everyone knows, we still don’t have a budget. Every time we do something, we have to go out and ask, we have to request logistics from the neighbors and the Municipality of Río Branco, which has given us a very important hand in all this. Tent, stage, traffic officials and many other things come from Río Branco” he expressed gratefully.
