Minister Floriano de Azevedo Marques, of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), voted this Tuesday (10) against the revocation of the mandate of senator Jorge Seif (PL-SC) for abuse of economic power in the 2022 campaign. 
The minister’s vote was given during the trial of an appeal filed by the Coalition Bora Trabalho, formed by the PSD, Patriota and União Brasil. In November 2023, the Regional Electoral Court (TRE) of Santa Catarina rejected the accusations against Seif (photo) and maintained the mandate.
For the subtitles, the senator’s candidacy benefited from businessman Luciano Hang, owner of Havan stores. According to the process, the senator was offered a structure to travel on company aircraft and broadcast on social media (lives), in addition to Hang’s personal involvement in the campaign.

The parties also point out the alleged irregular financing of the campaign through the senator’s participation in a fair promoted by the São João Batista Footwear Industry Union (SC). The use of a helicopter provided by businessman Osni Cipriani to travel to campaign events was also mentioned.
During the trial, the rapporteur voted against the revocation because he understood that the evidence presented was not sufficient to characterize abuse of power and to determine the revocation of the mandate.
“In the absence of robust evidence, popular suffrage must be privileged,” said the minister.
After the rapporteur’s vote, The trial was suspended and will resume next Thursday (12). The votes of six ministers are missing.
In 2024, at the beginning of the trial, the senator’s defense said that the practice of abuse of economic power and Hang’s significant participation in the campaign had not been proventhe.
