The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta, said this Tuesday (10) that one of the House’s priorities this year is to vote on reducing the 6×1 working day. On his social networks, Motta wrote that the vote could take place in May.
At the moment, two proposals are being discussed in the House on the subject: a proposal by congresswoman Erika Hilton (PEC 8/25) and another by deputy Reginaldo Lopes (PEC 221/19).
“The world has evolved, technologies have developed and Brazil cannot be left behind. We will lead the discussion by listening to society and the productive sector, with the expectation of voting in May”, he wrote, shortly after participating in an event promoted by the BTG Pactual bank in São Paulo.
In addition to the 6×1 scale, Motta said that other topics that will be a priority in the House this year are the approval of the agreement between the European Union and Mercosurwhich needs to have Brazil’s approval formalized in Congress, and the vote of Proposals for Amendments to the Public Security Constitution (PECs).
“We must now, after Carnival, return to this theme [a PEC da Segurança]. I hope that, passing through the Special Committee, we can bring the public safety agenda to the plenary, an agenda that cannot be postponed.”

Regarding the Mercosur agreement with the European Union, the president of the Chamber said that the treaty must first be approved by a joint commission – which he believes should happen the week after Carnival – and then be taken to the plenary.
“Having been validated by the Chamber and the Senate, Brazil can now begin negotiations with European countries that will open the markets and, with this, we will have significant progress in relations between our agribusiness and many other sectors that will benefit from this trade agreement, which is a priority for Brazil”, he said.
