Milagros Ortiz Bosch goes to the Attorney General's Office in search of protection for “witnesses” who reported irregularities in institutions

Saint Dominic. –The general director of Ethics and Government Integrity, Milagros Ortiz Boschpaid a visit to the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic with the objective of informing that body of the situation related to citizens who have reported alleged acts of administrative corruption, as well as strengthening inter-institutional coordination around these cases.

Ortiz Bosch indicated that the visit to the Attorney General’s Office responds to institutional concern regarding the possibility that complainants or witnesses face administrative or legal reprisals, which is why he considered it pertinent to bring this situation to the attention of the body with jurisdiction in criminal prosecution.

The official explained that the General Directorate of Ethics and Government Integrity (DIGEIG) received a complaint in August 2025 about alleged irregularities in the Monseñor Nouel Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation (CORAMON).

After the initial surveys, the institution determined that the reported events corresponded to a matter of a criminal nature, so the file was promptly sent to the Public Ministry, specifically to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Prosecution of Administrative Corruption (PEPCA), in accordance with the provisions of Law 133-11.

Likewise, he reported that the DIGEIG is working on the development of a regulatory proposal aimed at strengthening the mechanisms of whistleblower protectioninformants and witnesses, as part of the efforts to consolidate a culture of integrity and transparency in public administration.

The head of Ethics reiterated the commitment of the Dominican Government to support citizens who exercise their constitutional right to report irregularities and to collaborate with the competent authorities to guarantee respect for due process and institutional strengthening.
