The government of Cuba thanked the humanitarian aid sent yesterday by Mexico, which will arrive to the island aboard two ships of the Mexican Navy Secretariat, with more than 814 tons of food and supplies, in response to the crisis caused by the recent hydrocarbon blockade imposed by the president of the United States.
Through social networks, the Cuban ambassador to Mexico, Eugenio Martínez Enríquez, expressed his gratitude to the Mexican government and people, as well as to President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, pointing out that the support will contribute to mitigating the effects of the “economic war” against the island.
“Our sincere and deep gratitude to the government of Mexico, its people and its President for the material aid sent to the Cuban people. This aid will contribute to alleviating the consequences of the cruel economic war against Cuba,” the diplomat wrote on social networks.
Mexican ships transport basic food and hygiene items.
They set sail from the port of Veracruz and are expected to arrive on the island within four days, in reaffirmation of Mexico’s commitment to international cooperation and care for populations in vulnerable situations.
At night, the Cuban Foreign Ministry responded on the social network Facebook to the gratitude that the ambassador of that country in Mexico made in the morning, which he accompanied with the two flags of both countries and a heart in the middle, mentioning President Claudia Sheinbaum, whom it thanks for “the material help that is on the way for the Cuban people. Thank you Mexico for the solidarity and support in these difficult times that our people are experiencing as a consequence of the economic war imposed on us by the empire.”
