Five alleged criminals were killed by state security agencies, after a confrontation that occurred early this Monday in the city of Maracay, Aragua state.
According to information from local media and police reports, the event occurred at approximately 1:00 am in the La Arboleda urbanization, north of the capital, when a group of unknown persons aboard a vehicle approached a home with the apparent purpose of carrying out a robbery or kidnapping against its owners.
The presence of police commissions on patrol work allowed an immediate response to the detection of suspects.
An exchange of gunfire immediately took place, forcing the few present to throw themselves on the ground to avoid being hit by the bullets.
During the procedure, the uniformed officers managed to seize an arsenal that included firearms and grenades, in addition to other elements of criminalistic interest located at the scene.
After the confrontation ceased, joint commissions cordoned off the area to protect the evidence and begin the corresponding investigations.
The bodies of the deceased entered the National Service of Medicine and Forensic Sciences, located in the Caña de Azúcar sector, for the identification of the bodies, while the authorities maintain a security deployment in the area, where they began the rigorous expertise and investigations.
