He National Plan Citizen Security It has already been concluded by the Executive Branch and all that remains is its formal validation in the National Citizen Security Council (CONASEC).
This was reported by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Denise Mirallesin an interview with RPP.
Miralles explained that the plan, whose presentation had initially been announced for the beginning of January, is completed after a joint work process between various sectors of the State.
He recalled that, in December, the Executive formed a multisector group with an initial period of 30 days to prepare the proposal, a period that was extended twice in order to incorporate additional adjustments.
According to the minister, the next step is the approval of the document by the National Citizen Security Councilan instance that brings together not only representatives of the Executive, but also regional governments, municipalities and the Ombudsman’s Office, among other actors.
“This week CONASEC is being convened and I understand that one of the points on the agenda will be the approval of the plan,” said Miralles, after indicating that, once this procedure is completed, the content will be published and made available to the public.
The head of the MEF attributed the delays to the need to rethink traditional approaches to security. He indicated that the Executive has sought to go beyond temporary measures, betting on fundamental reforms that ensure continuity and greater impact, such as those implemented in the SUNIRas well as changes in Immigration and the National Police.
