Dengue cases continue to increase in La Libertad. According to the Situational Room for Metaxenic Diseases of the National Center for Epidemiology, Prevention and Control of Diseases, an entity attached to the Ministry of Health (Minsa), this region already registers 172 people with this disease.
This figure, according to the same room, is vastly higher than that reported last year up to the same period—epidemiological week number 4 (January 25 to 31)—: 48 cases.
IN RED
Of the 172 cases reported until January, 12 are confirmed and 160 are probable.
In addition, of the 12 provinces that make up La Libertad, eight have one or more cases of dengue: Trujillo, Chepén, Virú, Gran Chimú, Ascope, Pacasmayo, Otuzco and Pataz.
Of all these provinces, the one with the most people with dengue is Trujillo, with 97, followed by Chepén (23) and Virú (20), in second and third place, respectively.
Regarding Gran Chimú, Ascope and Pacasmayo, each one registers 13, 12 and 5 cases, respectively, while Otuzco and Pataz have only one patient with this disease.
The age group with the most cases is those between 20 and 24 years of age: 27 in total.
STRUGGLE
Faced with this scenario, the Regional Health Management (Geresa) of La Libertad held a press conference yesterday in Trujillo to present its work plan against this disease for this year.
During the presentation of the Geresa technical team, it was emphasized that the objective of this plan is to “reduce the lethality and burden of dengue disease through comprehensive interventions in at-risk locations in the region.”
It was specified that for these purposes there is a budget of S/ 7,882,328.
