Government will ask mining companies to return 200 concessions

Sheinbaum announced that he will invite the Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard, to explain the process of returning the concessions. However, he announced that it will be a voluntary process.

“They were not in production, so if they are not in production, it is better that they return. They themselves voluntarily return them, there is no act of the authority but they voluntarily return them. It is like water, if you are not using your water concession, return it so that that piece is not concessioned,” he explained.

The government rejects the delivery of natural resources

In relation to the United States – Mexico Action Plan on critical minerals, the president clarified that her government is not yet signing any agreement in this regard and reaffirmed that the delivery of natural resources will not be allowed.

“First, there is nothing signed, what it says there is that talks are going to begin. Second, it talks about sovereignty, that means that the United States investigates in its country and we do our exploration in our country, it is not joint. Third, we are not going to change the legislation and fourth, we are very clear that natural resources are not delivered,” he assured.
