Mining sector demands effective justice for the disappearance of 10 miners in Sinaloa

Chambers and mining organizations in Mexico expressed their condolences to the families of the three miners found dead in the last few hours in Sinaloa and demanded the location of the other seven people who are part of the group of 10 miners deprived of their liberty by an armed group in the south of that entity and who remain missing.

In a display in which 12 logos of Chambers and mining clusters appear, these organizations highlighted the right of their families and the mining community “to obtain a resolution that transcends a simple statistic and translates into effective justice.”

“We reaffirm our urgent call that this case does not go unpunished and that action be taken with all the strength of the State to guarantee security, legality and respect for human dignity.”

On January 13, a commando entered a mining camp set up in the municipality of Concordia, Sinaloa, to take 10 miners from the Vizla Silver company Corporation.

In the last few hours, the State Attorney General’s Office reported that the bodies of Ignacio Aurelio Salazar Flores, José Ángel Hernández Vélez and José Manuel Castañeda Hernández.

The organizations, including Camimex, CANCHAM, WIM and CIMMGM, pointed out that, given the seriousness of this situation, the united mining sector “establishes a strict position of observance of the actions of the justice institutions.”

“For our sector it is unacceptable, under any technical or social criteria, that the integrity of workers is violated.”

They demanded that the absolute priority remains locating alive of their companions who are still missing and that they can return home to their families, which is where they belong.

They indicated that they will continue to accompany the families and collaborate with the authorities until they have a response, justice and effective security guarantees for those who work with dignity in the mining regions of the country.

The organizations reaffirmed their “urgent call” for this case not to go unpunished and that action be taken with all the strength of the State to guarantee security, legality and respect for human dignity.
