Holiday Inn Cofresí Puerto Plata hotel opens

With the participation of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinaderand the minister of Tourism, David Colladothe hotel was inaugurated Holiday Inn Cofresi Puerto Plataa new tourism project that integrates 115 rooms in its pre-opening stage and an approximate investment of 26 million dollars, expanding the hotel offering in the Northern region.

The central speech of the event was delivered by Silvia Vela Constanzarepresenting the Board of Directors of Atland Barnachmen SASthe promoter and owner of the project, who stated that the opening of the hotel represents a strategic commitment to the country and to Puerto Plata.

“Today, not only we inaugurate a hotel; today we celebrate a country decision and confidence in the Dominican Republic, in its stability and in its people,” he expressed.

Vela Constanza highlighted that Puerto Plata was the entrance door of the tourism international to the country and is currently experiencing a stage of renewal that must be accompanied by responsible investments, long-term vision and world-class standards.

He noted that the project is part of the effort to revitalize and reposition the province as one of the more complete destinations and competitive in the Caribbean.

Vela Constanza indicated that the hotel has a strategic location that facilitates connectivity with the main tourist attractions of the northern zoneincluding the historic center of the city, the Isabel de Torres National Park, Playa Dorada, Cabarete and Sosúa, as well as the main cruise ports in the country.

The executive explained that the investment of 26 million dollars allowed the construction of 115 roomsIn addition to being a restaurant, lobby barswimming pool, common areas and event spaces corporate and social, designed to respond to the new dynamics of the tourism modern.

Abinader highlights presence of North American hotel companies

During the activity, the president Abinader highlighted the importance of the arrival of international hotel brands to the destination, pointing out that “one of the factors that affected the development of Puerto Plata was the absence of North American brands”, which, in his opinion, is being reversed with projects like this one.

The minister of Tourism valued the opening of the hotel as part of the process of comprehensive recovery of the destination and highlighted that coordination between the public and private sectors has been key to attracting investments and new hotel rooms that drive the sustained growth of the tourism in the province.

Meanwhile, the investor Jaime Santana Bonetti stressed that Holiday Inn is one of the most recognized and trusted hotel brands in the world, backed by InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), a conglomerate that has more than 6,600 hotels in more than 100 countries and a loyalty program with more than 150 million members.

For its part, Ricardo Felix reported that the operation of the hotel will generate more than 100 jobs direct and indirect. He announced that the same development team will replicate this concept with a new hotel Holiday Inn of 116 rooms in the southern region, scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
