Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Government urged the political leadership of Haiti to preserve institutional cohesion and maintain support for the Government led by Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, given the complex political situation that the neighboring nation is going through.
The president of Haitian Presidential Transition Council (CPT), Laurent Saint-Cyrtransferred this Saturday the country’s mandate Fils-Aiméto whom he entrusted the mission of the Executive Branch.
In a statement issued today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Dominican authorities indicated that, “Given the political situation that Haiti is going through, it urges the Haitian political leadership to preserve institutional cohesion and maintain support for the Government headed by Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé”.
The document warns that the current moment is particularly delicate and that the international community committed to the efforts of stabilization requires clear signals of consensus and responsibility on the part of the haitian leadershipwhile The population demands a Government capable of responding to their most basic needs and guide the country towards institutional normality.
In this sense, the Dominican Government reported that in the coming months the Gang Suppression Force (GSF) will enter into operation, along with other components of the multilateral effort, with the objective of supporting the stabilization of Haiti, facilitating the holding of elections and strengthening institutions.

The statement specifies that This mission seeks to put an end to the violence unleashed by criminal gangs who have usurped control over large areas of Haitian territory.
In addition, The Dominican Government recognized the initial progress registered in security matters by the task force established by the Prime Minister Fils-Aimé and reiterated that any step that contributes to reestablishing the authority of the Haitian state is essential to the success of ongoing efforts.
The Dominican Republic also reaffirmed its commitment to the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council relating to support for security in Haiti and demanded its full implementation, particularly the provisions of the Resolution 2793which establishes the GSF and the new United Nations Support Officeunderlining the need for these mechanisms to advance with the urgency and resources that the situation demands.
