US recognizes arrest of mayor of Tequila; attributes it to the exchange of information with Mexico

Judge imposes preventive detention on former mayor of Tequila for kidnapping of Morena candidates

“Every weapon seized and every criminal brought to justice makes our communities safer and saves lives. Justice will prevail,” Johnson wrote this Saturday on his social networks.

The message is part of the increase in pressure from the president of the United States, Donald Trump, towards Mexico, believing that not enough is being done to combat drug trafficking.

On February 5, the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Participation (SSPC) announced the arrest of Rivera Navarro.

That was one of several arrests resulting from Operation Swarm, reported by the head of the SSPC, Omar García Harfuch, who explained that the arrest was the result of a four-month investigation and derived from information obtained by the Naval Intelligence Unit.

In the operation, three public servants from the city council were also arrested: Juan Manuel Pérez Sosa, the director of Public Security; Juan Gabriel Toribio Villarreal, director of Cadastre and Property, and Isaac Carbajal Villaseñor, director of Public Works.

According to García Harfuch, elements of the Secretariat of National Defense (Defense), Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the National Intelligence Center (CNI) and the SSPC itself participated in the arrests.
