However, authorities did not detail whether there were more bodies and so far they have not confirmed the identity of the remains. They only indicated that the relevant studies would be carried out.
Given this lack of data, the group Por las Voces sin Justicia directed a petition to the state prosecutor, Claudia Sánchez, to demand information about the grave.
“For our families, each discovery represents the real possibility that our loved ones are there. The lack of information generates uncertainty, pain and re-victimization,” the group explained in a statement.
And the crisis of disappearances, which totals more than 132,000 cases, has forced families to search for their loved ones on their own. For years, every time a grave is found in the country, groups travel to the site in order to check if the missing person could be there.
Recent history has shown that this is possible, as the remains of some missing people have been found in graves even in states other than their residence.
“It is important to point out that they could be our relatives, so we demand that our rights to the truth, information and dignified treatment be respected,” they added.
