The traditional Cinelândia balls promise to transform the center of Rio de Janeiro into a large open-air hall during Carnival, from Saturday (14) to Tuesday (17), bringing together audiences of all ages to the sound of renowned artists and the Tupy Orchestra.
With live shows, classic repertoires and presentations, the event reinforces the square’s vocation as one of the city’s historic stages of festivities.
The agenda also includes the lively Revelers Competition, which takes place on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, encouraging creativity, humor and irreverence in costumes. The free program starts every day from 4pm.
Show day
On Saturday (14), one of the most anticipated performances of the night is the singer Dorina. With a striking voice and an elegant repertoire, she moves between samba-canção, Brazilian popular music and carnival classics.
Throughout the day, the public will also be able to enjoy shows by Osmar do Breque, Ellen de Lima, Paulo Nunes, Tom da Bahia, Márcio Gomes, Selma Costa, Alfredo Del Penho, Luis Cesar, Reginaldo Bessa, Gotsha, Alberto Gino and Wladimir Cabanas, accompanied by the Tupy Orchestra, responsible for closing the program with its repertoire full of carnival classics, inviting revelers of all ages to take to the dance floor.
Revelers Contest
On Sunday (15), in addition to the musical attractions, Cinelândia hosts the Revelers Competition, an initiative that is repeated on Monday and Tuesday and which values the originality of the participants, rewarding creative costumes, irreverent performances and the carnival spirit.
The musical program continues with performances by Osmar do Breque, Ellen de Lima, Paulo Nunes, Tom da Bahia, Márcio Gomes, Selma Costa, Luis Cesar, Reginaldo Bessa, Gotsha, Alberto Gino, Wladimir Cabanas with the Tupy Orchestra, maintaining the party atmosphere throughout the afternoon and evening.
