Delcy received Zapatero at the Miraflores Palace

As planned yesterday, Friday, the president in charge of the Republic Delcy Rodríguez received the former president of the Spanish Government, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, in the context of the Bolivarian Peace Diplomacy and the advancement of the Democratic Coexistence and Peace Program in Venezuela.

The meeting held in Office 1 of the Miraflores Palace was also present, the coordinator of the National Commission for Sovereignty and Peace and president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez.

After his arrival in our country, Rodríguez Zapatero participated in the Democratic Coexistence and Peace Program for Venezuela, led by the Minister for Culture, Ernesto Villegas in the spaces of the Rómulo Gallegos Latin American Center (Celarg).

At the meeting, Zapatero described that the Amnesty Law that was proposed by the acting president Delcy Rodríguez will mean a “before and after” in Venezuela.
“I support the amnesty. I want the amnesty to be as broad as possible and for the times to be quick. I believe that the amnesty is a wish of Venezuelan society and that it will mark a before and after.”

He expressed his confidence in this program that allows the meeting of all sectors for an accurate and political dialogue with a capital P. “Of course, I will help with everything that is asked of me. Reconciliation, peace, living together, living together, respecting each other, forgiving, are words that suit the Spanish and Castilian languages ​​very well, therefore, I think it is worth it and that it is an extraordinary moment. There is an opportunity for Venezuela, for its future and reconciliation (…) Venezuela is a country worth helping in every way possible.”

The former president of the Spanish Government, Rodríguez Zapatero, highlighted that he feels great confidence in the interim president, Delcy Rodríguez.

He reiterated that he had no doubt about what the approval of the Amnesty Law means. “I have no doubt that that promise, that great promise of the broad, very broad Amnesty Law, will be fulfilled (…) it seems that it will be approved quickly and that it has compliance deadlines that are really short, it is hope for the family members.”

First discussion. On Thursday, the draft Amnesty Law was approved unanimously by the National Assembly in first discussion.

In the session, the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, assured that the approval of this legal instrument marks a turning point for the Republic.
“Our grandchildren will be able to say with pride: my grandfather was there that day when reconciliation, the construction of forgiveness and peace began with the Amnesty Law.”

Rodríguez also announced the creation of a special commission to coordinate the consultation process of the Amnesty Law for Democratic Coexistence.
