The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, promised to release the political prisoners who are in Zone 7 “between next Tuesday and no later than Friday.” He indicated that after the Amnesty Law is approved on February 10, “everyone leaves that same day.” He also promised to “repair all errors that have been made.”
The parliamentarian appeared at the headquarters of the Bolivarian National Police, located in Boleíta, Caracas, better known as Zone 7, and assured that next week “they will all be loose.”

This is the first time that a representative of the ruling party goes to a prison to talk with the relatives of political prisoners.
Jorge Rodríguez went to the PNB headquarters accompanied by Jorge Arreza, deputy and president of the commission that created the amnesty law; and Grecia Colmenares, vice president of Parliament. The occasion was taken advantage of by the relatives who remain in the place to present the cases and demand the freedom of each of them.
Those close to them stated that some of the detainees have not even been brought before the courts for the first time. Others pointed out the health problems that those imprisoned are going through and Jorge Rodríguez took responsibility for managing the operations: one woman said that her relative must undergo prostate surgery and another explained that her father suffers from chronic diabetes “and had a finger amputated.”

The president of the National Assembly requested a list of those detained in Zone 7, with their special conditions, to study each case.
This Thursday, the Penal Forum organization confirmed the release of 383 political prisoners since the official announcement made by Jorge Rodríguez. However, the Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, has assured that they have released more than 800 detainees.
Human rights organizations have demanded the presentation of an official list to verify the information, but so far it has not been delivered.
