The Sunat confirmed that the trade name of Cinestar Multiplexes It will be auctioned on Thursday, February 26, with a base price of S/ 877,891.76, as part of the first batch of auctions of the year of assets seized from taxpayers who did not regularize their tax situation.
According to the official list, the Cinestar Multicines brand is valued at S/ 1,316,838, although the initial auction amount is lower.
The procedure does not imply the bankruptcy or closure of the chain, which maintains more than 15 complexes in operation nationwide, despite the previous closure of its emblematic location on Benavides Avenue, in Santiago de Surco.
Garnishment and legal background
According to information from SUNAT, the brand was seized from the company Top Rank Publicidad SAC through Resolution No. 2 of September 23, 2024, issued by the Second Civil Court with Commercial Subspecialty of Lima.
The embargo was carried out in favor of the Credit Bank of Peru (BCP) for up to S/ 1 million, while SUNAT executed an additional embargo for S/ 50,000 in June 2025.
The collecting entity specified that the affected property corresponds exclusively to the trademark asset, that is, the commercial name under which the chain operates.
Cinestar clarifies: “Our complexes continue to operate normally”
After learning of the announcement of the auction, Cinestar Multicines issued a official statement in which he clarified the scope of the process:
“Given the recent publication about the Cinestar Multicines brand, we inform that said process corresponds only to an asset in the trademark process. Our complexes continue to serve with complete normality at the national level, maintaining functions and services. We appreciate the trust of our customers.”
The company stressed that the auction does not affect the provision of the service, nor the programming of functions nor customer service.
February auction: more than 60 assets up for auction
The auction of the Cinestar Multicines brand is part of a larger process. SUNAT reported that on this occasion the following will be auctioned:

The properties include houses, apartments, offices, parking lots, commercial premises and land in different districts of Lima and regions such as Ica and Paracas.
How to participate in the auction?
Interested parties must present themselves with their ID at the Multiple Use Room (SUM) of SUNAT, located on Arenales Avenue No. 335–357, Cercado de Lima.
The auction will be carried out under a sealed bid format, and the property will be awarded to the bidder who presents the highest bid.
