Santo Domingo.- The director of the National Health Service (SNS)Julio Landrón, dismissed this Friday the director of the Dr. Salvador Bienvenido Gautier HospitalArmando José Holguín Núñez, after the denunciation of the irregularities in infrastructure and services of the health center.
Landrón indicated that the hospital constitutes a benchmark in service and teaching, since it was built in the 50s and consists of more than 30 specialtieswhere the majority of professionals have been trained, who have contributed to the health of the Dominican people.
“This is what it was called before Social Securitythat people from any part of the country were referred to Social Security, where the best medicinewhere the best specialists were, where the best operating rooms were and the best areas“, declared the leader of the SNS.
Landrón explained that he will not allow failures in health services, since weeks before he received a complaint that several hospitals, including Gautier, kept patients in the emergency area having beds availableas well as the denial of intensive care beds.
The SNS leader warned about the efficiency of emergency services andPatient care hourswho, he indicated, must be treated within a period of two to three hours to determine if they go home or if they are admitted to the medical center.
“If we don’t have beds in a hospital, we have to have a reference mechanism to another health center of the same level that guarantees the health of these patients and that has the same conditions, but that has the same bed availability as we also have it on the network,” explained Landrón.
In addition, he indicated that a circuit is being designed to identify the availability of beds in the different health centers, with the aim of make services more efficient of the public health system.
Security team disconnected
During the visit to the aforementioned health center, the director of the SNS also disengaged the entire security team, due to the lack of attendance and poor presence of membersincluding the assigned colonel.
“That cannot be allowed. Here with more than 40 security people, there were 16 or 17 people working,” added Landrón.
The official said that he held a meeting with regional managers, with the purpose of continuing guaranteeing the proper functioning of services, as well as the protection of collaborators, patients and institutions that are part of the State.
Conversation with Luis Abinader
Julio Landrón announced that he is in conversation with the presidentLuis Abinaderin relation to the increase in investment for expand and renovate some areas of the Salvador Gautier Hospital this year, including the emergency area that remains in a critical situation.
“We are trying to ensure that this investment can be expanded even further; we, hopefully, can even have a tower here in the future for clinical-surgical specialties,” concluded the head of the SNS.
