The political party Alliance for Progress (APP) of Cesar Acuna allocated S/349,882 of its electoral strip to Cosmos Television, which was founded by the Cesar Vallejo University (UCV), according to a local media outlet in Trujillo, La Libertad (Trujillo Noticias).
According to the media, Cosmos Televisión will broadcast the advertising spots that APP broadcasts during the campaign of the General Elections 2026.
However, APP was not the only media that placed electoral strips. Also did Ahora Nación by Alfonso López Chau for S/28,596, Perú Libre by Vladimir Cerrón for S/14,937 and Un Camino Diferente for S/14,400.
Meanwhile, Cívico Obras, the Patriotic Party of Peru, Fuerza Popular, Cooperación Popular, Perú Acción, Fe en el Perú, Venceremos, País para Todos and the Good Government Party also placed electoral strips in the aforementioned media.
They rule out irregularities and that Cosmos TV belongs to the UCV
During an interview on channel N, APP spokesperson, Luis Vivanco, ruled out any type of irregularity in the distribution of money for the electoral strip. Likewise, he indicated that, since 2017, Cosmos TV has no connection with the Acuña family and the UCV.
In that sense, he stated that in that year the channel was sold to a company and that, since that moment, there has been no relationship between both parties.
“The party has been diligent. President Acuña himself has commissioned a technical office to be in charge, based on objective criteria, of assigning the slot,” he said.
