The National Superintendency of Higher University Education (Sunedu) revealed the results of its 2025 Supervision Plan, where at least 38 records of people with sentences condemnations that maintained links with various study houses.
These individuals have judicial rulings for crimes of terrorism, violation of sexual freedom and illicit drug trafficking, directly violating Law No. 29988, which indicates that no person convicted of these crimes can maintain an employment or contractual relationship with educational institutions.
After the detection, carried out in 33 control actions in public and private universities, Sunedu confirmed that those involved have already been separated from the institutions. However, the cases will be referred to the competent authorities to determine the corresponding administrative sanctions against the universities that allowed their entry or permanence.
In addition to this security and ethics operation, the supervision made it possible to verify that 100% of the supervised universities already adapted their study plans to include the research work course in the last semester.
The operation of the university defense offices and prevention policies against sexual harassment were also monitored, in order to guarantee a safe environment for students.
The supervisory body reported that Plan 2025 managed to verify the maintenance of the Basic Quality Conditions and the correct use of resources in the private sector. With these results, Sunedu continues to exercise permanent surveillance over the university system, ensuring that institutions not only comply with academic standards, but also with the legal and integrity filters that the law requires to protect the student community.
According to information from Peru21, there are 16 public and 22 private universities that contain those workers with sentences, one person per study center (which gives a total of 38).
