The provincial mayor of Trujillo, Mario Reynaresponded to the criticism made by some councilors regarding the approximate expenditure of 250 thousand soles allocated to the celebrations for the 205 years of independence of the city, defending the municipal investment and pointing out that it was an institutional activity.
The municipal authority indicated that these types of celebrations are also carried out in other jurisdictions and do not generate the same level of questions. “They have not questioned the municipality of Trujillo and the other municipalities. I know that there are concerts in other districts and Víctor Larco has brought Corazón Serrano,” he said.
Reyna emphasized that the celebration does not correspond to a personal event, but rather a historical date for the city. “It’s not my birthday, it’s the anniversary of the city of Trujillo, it’s 205 years celebrated,” he said.
Likewise, he explained that initially the costs were going to be lower because the event would be held in the Parade ground; However, since the corresponding authorization was not obtained, it was necessary to transfer him to the Mansiche stadiumwhich increased logistics expenses. “At first the costs were going to be much lower because they were going to be in the Plaza de Armas, but we had to rent one thing and another because they didn’t give us authorization,” he said.
The mayor also specified that the municipality opted for artists with lower rates within the music market. “I have not brought Corazón Serrano, which is a lineup of renowned artists but who charge much more,” he said.
He also explained that an initial proposal with another show did not prosper due to disagreements with the promoter regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages. “I had opposed it because the promoter wanted to sell alcoholic beverages and no one should sell alcohol,” he said.
Finally, Reyna assured that the activity brought together a significant number of attendees and considered that the criticism would respond to the current political context. “Twenty thousand Trujillo residents have been in the Mansiche with security and fireworks. I think there are things that are already heating up the political atmosphere,” he concluded.
