Very good demand for carnival cabins
Less than 10 days before the Momo festival, the Mayor of Cerro Largo highlighted the demand that exists at the population level.
In relation to the cabins, which this year will be located at the start of the parade, he confirmed that they have been selling at a very good pace.
“The sale is being made at the Youth Office. We are new to this, but we are anticipating a great carnival. The price is the same as last year with the difference being in the maximum diffusion that we are giving it so that no one is left out of this. There is no friend of the Mayor here, there is no relative of anyone who is linked to the Government of Cerro Largo who has priority for the cabins” assured Christian Morel.
The sale, which has already exceeded 60%, has been taking place between 5 and 7 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
“In total there are 27 cabins, one for the Councilors. The cost is $6,000 per day or $25,000 for the five days. It happened that on the first day 7 people already bought the cabins for the 5 days and another 36 people did so for different days. That is important to arrive at the carnival with everyone sold out.” said the Mayor.
In relation to the stands, we are waiting for the cooperatives that will be favored this year, as well as the sports institutions.
He also announced that the possibility is being considered that one of the nights, which are 5 in total, will be free for the entire population. “It is a personal wish that we are going to study to see if we can achieve it” he commented.
SERVICES IN THE CABINS
Those who acquire these spaces will have public bathrooms that will be installed in the square.
The organization will provide 6 chairs, but if more people wish to attend, they can add seats. “That is at the discretion of each acquirer” he assured.
“Then there will be a good gastronomic service in the square, businesses that are there all year round, and also some others that will be setting up for those days. Beyond that, they will be able to bring their own drinks and food.” he stated.
One of the problems that is being solved at this time is the one linked to the birds that use the trees that are precisely under the cabins as sleeping areas.
“We just changed the roof of each of them. We have made an important investment. Perhaps all the money we raise from their sale will go to the part of the roof that will be based on sheets” said Christian Morel.
“We will have personnel stationed there permanently to clean the sidewalk. In addition, we are looking for a system consisting of a sound emitted by a device to see if we can try to prevent those birds from spending the night there during the night” announced the Mayor of Cerro Largo.
It is worth remembering that the parades for Aparicio Saravia will take place on Saturday the 14th, Sunday the 15th and Monday the 26th with the participation of all the groups and special guests. On Friday the 20th it will be the turn for the Samba Schools exclusively and on Saturday the 21st, the funeral of the 2026 carnival, for the different Candombe Schools.
