Agents of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) They arrested a 21-year-old Croatian citizen after arresting him 14 packages of cocaine during an inspection and surveillance operation carried out in the Las Américas International Airport (AILA-JFPG)in the municipality of Boca Chica, Santo Domingo province.
The operation was carried out by members of the DNCD, in coordination with the Public Ministryhe Specialized Airport Security Corps (CESAC) and with the support of inspectors from the General Directorate of Customs (DGA).
According to intelligence reports, the young foreigner planned to travel from the air terminal to Frankfurt, Germanywhen approached by operational units.
During the inspection of his carry-on luggage, carried out through one of the airport’s X-ray machines, suspicious images were detected inside a backpack.

On instructions from the acting prosecutor and in the presence of the accused, the authorities proceeded to carry out a more exhaustive search, finding inside a black backpack 14 packages of a substance presumed to be cocainewrapped in plastic covers of different colors.
The Croatian citizen was arrested at the scene and will be brought to justice in the next few hours for alleged violation of the Law 50-88 on Drugs and Controlled Substances in the Dominican Republic.
Meanwhile, the Public Ministry and the DNCD reported that they are keeping an investigation open to identify and capture other possible parties involved in this frustrated operation. international drug trafficking.
The 14 occupied packages were sent under strict chain of custody to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) to determine the exact weight and nature of the substance.
