Young woman is sentenced in Jauja: She took advantage of the fact that they were sleeping in the square and stole cell phones

During the early hours of January 22, while two young people were sleeping on a bench in the Plaza 20 de Enero in Yauyos, Jauja, Luz Lanazca (24) took advantage of the situation to steal four high-end cell phones, credit cards and personal documents, and left in a collective taxi heading to Huancayo. The relatives reported the incident and tracked the equipment using GPS, which allowed its capture in the center of Huancayo by members of the El Tambo police station.

The Provincial Corporate Criminal Prosecutor’s Office of Jauja managed to get the young woman sentenced to two years, 11 months and 25 days for the crime of aggravated theft. After the personal search, all the stolen property was recovered. Provincial deputy prosecutor Julia Marlene Tovar Vilcahuamán highlighted that the quick action of the Public Ministry was key for the sentence to be applied through a sentence of early termination.

The Judiciary also ordered that Lanazca comply with rules of conduct, with the warning that failure to comply could lead to effective imprisonment. In addition, the payment of civil reparation was established in favor of the victims, ensuring that they receive compensation for the stolen goods and documents.
