The ton of beef exported is close to US$5,500
The export price of beef was US$5,394 in January, the same average as for the 30 days closed on January 31 according to INAC statistics updated this Wednesday. An increase of US$ 150 compared to December.
Compared to January 2025, the increase is 15%, about US$700 more, and US$1,400 above the average for the first month of 2024.
The United States and Canada imported more than half of the 32,927 tons shipped in January, according to INAC data, China 25% and the European Union 11%.
The sharp declines in volume from China and Israel, -39% and -63% respectively, translated into a 16% drop in total beef exported, about 6,500 tons less than in January 2025 and 9,500 tons less than in the first month of 2024.
The other large clients grew slightly: the North American bloc (USMCA) increased 6.7% with a greater push from Canada than from the US and the European Union 1.5%.
In terms of revenue, North America accounts for 48% of the total with US$ 86 million and is followed by China and the European Union with 18% each, about US$ 32 million per destination.
Billing for the month was US$ 177 million, 3.7% below last year, and US$ 12 million in Offal, a decrease of 2.2%.
