SNS and SeNaSa coordinate actions to strengthen Primary Care in the Public Network

Santo Domingo.– The head of the National Health Service (SNS), Julio Landrón, and the executive director of the National Health Insurance (SeNaSa), Edward Guzmán, led a planning and monitoring meeting this Tuesday with the aim of continuing the coordination of actions that allow improving the provision of services and the implementation of the National Primary Care Strategy, as one of the main axes of strengthening the health sector promoted by the Dominican Government.

During the meeting, in which those in charge of strategic areas of the SNS and SeNaSa participated, topics were addressed that will have a significant impact on strengthening the provision of services in the Public Network.

Landrón highlighted that this strategic alliance represents a firm step towards the implementation of the National Primary Care Strategy, and the application of all the regulations, protocols and manuals that it implies.

“This strategy also covers issues such as training, repair and equipment of all primary care units, which is one of the main axes of the Government this year in terms of the efficiency and humanization of the public health system,” he noted.

In that sense, he highlighted the need for joint work between both institutions to guarantee timely care, greater coverage and quality in the services received by the population.

“What we have been saying for many years is not an illusion, the financial sustainability of the entire Public Health Network is guaranteed by SeNaSa,” he stressed.

Likewise, he valued the openness of the director of SeNaSa to establish alliances and inter-institutional synergy in order to address the needs and demands of the Dominican people in terms of health.

“We want to guarantee SeNaSa members, mainly those most in need, accessible, dignified and humane health, so that out-of-pocket spending on health disappears and we can even bring mental health to the most remote places in the country,” he indicated.

Meanwhile, the director of SeNaSa, Dr. Edward Guzmán, emphasized that progress is being made in the creation of an inter-institutional technical table in which the SNS, SeNaSa, the Ministry of Public Health and the Essential Medicines and Central Logistics Support Program (Promese/CAL) participate, with the aim of guaranteeing improvements in coverage and in the provision of services in the country’s hospitals.

“We are here to work in a single direction. We value all the effort made by each of the hospitals in the public network and know that we have every interest in working together,” he expressed.

Finally, the heads of the SNS and SeNaSa reaffirmed the commitment to consolidate strategic alliances for the benefit of all affiliates of the state ARS and all network users.
