The National Assembly (AN) approved this Tuesday the appointment of citizen María Elena Uzzo Giannattasio as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic to the Italian Republic, concurrent to the Republic of Malta and the Republic of San Marino.
The president of the Legislative Branch, Jorge Rodríguez, sanctioned the request of the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, in accordance with the provisions of article 187, paragraph 14, and 236, paragraph 15 of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
After the vote, the head of the parliamentary board instructed to send the approved document to Chancellor Yván Gil and ordered to begin efforts to publish the resolution in the Official Gazette.
In the ordinary session this Tuesday, it was reported that the Permanent Commission on Foreign Policy, Sovereignty and Integration studied the request of the national Executive, processed by the also Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Relations, with the purpose of continuing to strengthen the Venezuelan diplomatic representation abroad.
The approved project highlights that the appointment of the citizen ambassador responds to her extensive experience in the foreign service, her extensive knowledge of the historical, political and cultural ties that unite Venezuela with Italy, and she is a woman of multilateral diplomatic experience, of sensitivity towards the processes of integration and cooperation between peoples.
According to the report, “this makes her the ideal person to assume this responsibility at this crucial moment for bilateral relations, due to the importance of bilateral relations between Venezuela and Italy, which are historical and centuries-old relations.”
