A violent attack occurred tonight on the Marginal highway, near the Bahía sector, in Sangani, Perené district, Chanchamayo province. A public transport driver was seriously injured after being shot by alleged hitmen.
Citizen Jose Luis Hortecho Rojas, driver of the Regional Transportation Company aboard his fleet vehicle #78 license plate F3O-091, was attacked by gunfire when he was traveling with his unit on the aforementioned road, on the side of the Pichanaqui bridge.
The attackers, who allegedly acted with extreme violence, shot him twice in the head.
Emergency Service personnel rushed the victim to the local Contingency Hospital, where he remained in a reserved condition, fighting for his life. However, as the hours passed, it was learned that he lost his life.
At the scene, members of the Divincri and the Pichanaqui Police Station cordoned off the area and began legal proceedings. Ballistic evidence was collected and tracking work is being carried out to identify and capture those responsible.
It is speculated that the criminals would have taken him on a race from Pangoa to Perené and shot him on the way. It would be a settling of accounts since they did not take the unit or any other belongings.
So far there is one person detained.
