Interviewed in San Lázaro about the changes that will occur compared to Adán Augusto López Hernández, his predecessor in the leadership of the parliamentary group, he said: “let’s say that we are different personalities, nothing more.”
Both Mier and López Hernández arrived with the rest of the Morena senators at the general Congress session, held yesterday in the Legislative precinct of San Lázaro, which began the new regular period of sessions.
Interviewed at the conclusion of the formal ceremony, he was asked about the differences within his party.
He stated that his party is a movement, which “is the opposite of something static, and a movement like ours is diverse, plural, so large, with representation in practically all the electoral sections of the country and with diverse interests, but all pointing in the same direction: the transformation of Mexico, that is where politics appears as an instrument that allows us to maintain unity.”
The change in Morenoist coordination also generated reactions from other political forces.
The president of the Chamber of Deputies, PAN member Kenia López Rabadán, expressed: “I hope plurality returns to the Senate. I hope respect for all parties, for all members, for colleagues, even if you don’t like how they think, is in the Senate.”
Applause in the opposition
He trusted that this body “will once again be a space for dialogue, respect, recognition of others, and above all for parliament. I understand that Senator Nacho Mier – who has also been a legislator here in the Chamber of Deputies – often has very positive ways of building. Hopefully that will help the Senate.”
Meanwhile, the senator and national leader of the PRI, Alejandro Moreno, smiling, stressed that he is “very happy, very, very happy” with the change. He considered that the change in Morena’s coordination shows that “there is little coordination” in the Morena ranks and that López Hernandez “was not an interlocutor with any political party.”
At the same time, the leader of the PVEM senators, Manuel Velasco, supported the decision of the Morena legislators, which he considered an internal matter of the guinda party.
