The president (E) of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, appointed Félix Plasencia as the diplomatic representative of Venezuela to the United States, as reported by the Minister of Communication, Miguel Ángel Pérez Pirela, through his social networks.
The Venezuelan diplomat will travel with his team to US soil in the coming days, the Chancellor of the Republic, Yván Gil, confirmed this Monday. It should be noted that on April 2, 2024, Plasencia was appointed ambassador of Venezuela to the United Kingdom.
The statements were offered by Gil after the acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, received in Miraflores the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States of America of the Affairs Unit for Venezuela, Laura Dogu.
The meeting served to begin a work agenda that involves addressing the historical differences and controversies between the US and Venezuela. In addition, “we have reviewed the agenda of peace and respect,” commented Gil. He also highlighted that they talked about energy, political and economic issues.
Plasencia held the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela between 2021 and 2022. Previously he held the positions of vice minister for Multilateral Issues of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, as well as the vice minister for Asia, the Middle East and Oceania, respectively, and in the ministry of Tourism and Foreign Trade. Between 2020 and 2021 he was Venezuela’s ambassador to China. On August 19, 2021, was appointed as Chancellor of the Republic, replacing Jorge Arreaza.
