The Tabasco native left his position under the argument that he will begin to do territorial work in favor of Morena, because in 2027 there will be elections in which 17 governors and 500 federal deputies will be elected.
When asked if people from his political group will remain or be removed from their positions in the Senate, Hernández preferred that the new coordinator of the Morenista senators, Ignacio Mier, respond.
“Until today all the administrative workers and technical-legislative advisors of the Chamber have done a great job,” said Mier.
He emphasized that the worst thing to do right now is to make hasty decisions; However, he said there must be an evaluation.
“We are a parliamentary group that has an internal structure and the Senate has defined commissions, therefore the worst thing that can be done is to make decisions hastily. There must be a calm evaluation and it is based on results. Until now all public servants have given results in the Senate,” he emphasized.
Ignacio Mier, who is the new head of the bench made up of 67 senators, defended the members of Adán Augusto López Hernández’s political group, since this Morenista has supported the legislator.
In Morena’s internal race in 2023, Mier expressed his support on several occasions for López Hernández to be his party’s presidential candidate.
Those close to Adam
At least seven people from Adán Augusto López Hernández’s political group have various positions in the Senate.
This Oscar Trinidad Palomera Canowho is the head of the General Secretariat of Administrative Services of the Senate, which is why he is in charge of managing the annual budget of this legislative Chamber and by 2026 he will manage 5,103 million pesos assigned to him by the Chamber of Deputies.
Palomera Cano was chosen by the majority of the senators, but López Hernández encouraged him to occupy that position and today he earns 187,979 pesos gross per month.
The current Secretary General has worked with López Hernández since 2019, when the legislator was governor of Tabasco. At that time he was appointed head of the state’s Secretariat of Government Administration and Innovation.
In 2021 he arrived at the Ministry of the Interior to be a member of López Hernández; Palomera Cano even boasts on social networks of her closeness to the legislator.
Now he not only heads the General Secretariat of Administrative Services of the Senate, he is also López Hernández’s substitute, so if the legislator leaves his position, Palomera Cano will occupy the seat.
It is also Gerardo Fragoso Díaz, who was one of the closest people to Rosalinda López, sister of Adán Augusto López.
Since September 2024, he has been the internal comptroller of the Senate, so he is also in charge of transparency, accountability and protection of personal data in the Upper House, so his salary is 124,711 pesos.
