The IMCO 2026 Regional Competitiveness Index recognizes the Northeast as first place nationally, with San Luis Potosí as a key state thanks to its advances in security, infrastructure and international promotion.
San Luis Potosí is consolidated as a strategic state within the Northeast region, the most competitive in Mexico, according to the Regional Competitiveness Index (ICR) 2026 of the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness (IMCO). This study positions the Northeast in first place nationally for its ability to attract and retain investment and talent, highlighting San Luis Potosí as a key actor in this regional leadership, the result of a change that is experienced and felt today in its economic dynamism.

The IMCO points out that competitiveness is built from environments of certainty, infrastructure and security. Under the leadership of Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona, the State Government has promoted strategic actions in these areas, strengthening confidence for productive activity, maintaining a low unemployment rate and generating conditions of stability that translate into sustained economic growth and better opportunities for the population.

In terms of economic development, San Luis Potosí has strengthened its international projection with business offices in the United States and Japan, which promote the state in strategic markets and facilitate its integration into global value chains, in line with the opportunities of nearshoring. With a long-term vision, the state consolidates its role as a pillar of regional competitiveness, demonstrating that the change that is experienced and felt is reflected in greater investment, economic development and well-being for Potosí families.
