Santo Domingo.– Members of the Army of the Dominican Republic (ERD) arrested a Haitian national on January 27 in the border area of Elías Piña, during patrol and control work carried out in the vicinity of the Macasías River, the Ministry of Defense reported.
The detainee was identified as Chin Laduseof Haitian nationality, who was located hidden in bushes on the banks of the river, accompanied by a minoralso Haitian, whom he pointed out as his son.
According to the information offered by the prisoner himself to the patrol, he stated that He was in hiding for fear of reprisals in Haitiwhere is identified for his alleged connection with criminal actsrelated to the death of several women whose bodies were found decapitated in the bed of the aforementioned river.
According to him, as a result of these accusations, a mob had burned down his home in his country of origin.

After the arrest, both foreigners were transferred to military custody to the La Estrelleta Fortress of the ERDwhere they were made available to the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) for biometric registration purposes and the corresponding procedures, prior to delivery to the Haiti National Police (PNH)in accordance with the binational cooperation protocols.
The Ministry of Defense reiterated that these actions are part of the permanent operations of surveillance, control and security that execute the Armed forces in the border area, in support of national authorities and in compliance with the law.
