Leyanis’ triumph came one day after her countryman Liadagmis Povea led the triple jump without a hitch at the Haute Vienne National Indoor Athletics Meeting, in the French town of Limoges.
The occupant of the fourth seat in the most recent universal competition barely made two attempts, and with the only valid one – the first – she stuck the spikes 13.40 meters from the board, enough to relegate the rest of the participants.
