The flow of the Ocoña River increased dangerously in the last few hours, causing the destruction of more than 200 meters of river defenses and affecting rice cultivation lands in various annexes of the upper part of the district of Ocoña, in the province of Camaná.
The situation could worsen and leave several districts and annexes of the jurisdictions of Ocoña incommunicadoUrasqui, Iquipi and Condesuyos, as well as residents of Secocha, around 30 mining centers and towns such as Alto Molino, San Juan de Chorunga, La Capilla, Yanaquigua, Andaray and 10 other annexes in the upper parts.
The president of the Irrigation Commission of the Hualla annex, Lorenzo Tejada, put the authorities on urgent alert so that send heavy machinery and place rocks in different sections.
He warned that the intense rainfall is affecting the road which could leave the aforementioned annexes isolated. In those spread on social networks, several transporters were stranded in the Alto Molino sector, while in Hualla, it was evident that defenses fell due to the increase in flow.
Likewise, he stated that the castle-casting work on the defenses had to be carried out before of the rainy season. Due to this risk, farmers fear losing their rice harvest as happened in previous years.
