“José Luis Tan and his accomplices denounce my presence in the show that was put on for Mike Hammer in Camagüey. Of course I was there! What can you expect from a young communist?” wrote Santiesteban.
The journalist and professor from Camagüey José Raúl Gallego He explained on social networks that the Provincial Committee of the UJC is located on General Gómez Street between Apodaca and República. For its part, the Hostal Santa María, where the act of repudiation prepared by State Security against Hammer took place, is located on Ignacio Agramonte and República streets, just about two blocks between both points.
“The rest of the participants surely work in that same place. It is not ‘the people of Camagüey’ who attacked Hammer. No one believes that. They were political cadres coordinated by State Security,” denounced Gallego.
Furthermore, the Cuban journalist considered that the attack against Hammer is part of a coordinated operation from the highest levels of the Cuban repressive forces.
According to him, hours before Hammer arrived in Camagüey, State Security mounted surveillance operations on relatives of political prisoners and activists. Likewise, the regime delivered to the province’s CUPET the license plates of the United States Embassy cars and instructed them not to provide fuel under the alleged excuse of connection problems.
For his part, the independent reporter José Luis Tan Estrada reported this afternoon that a young man was detained in the center of the eastern city “for shouting his truths peacefully to Yoel Santiesteban” and would have been transferred to the 1st Police Unit.

Furthermore, during the event, people allegedly from the regime were seen intentionally recording the events from various angles, an action that could later be used as part of the official propaganda apparatus against Hammer.
