Some workers from the company Diamantes Jubers SAC, which carries out track and sidewalk work in the center of Piura, attacked three local journalists when they were covering information about the overturning of a cistern on a street where they carry out work.
The workers, covering their faces, including a woman, first attacked a young journalist when she was transmitting information about this event. The workers took down his cell phone and shouted at him that it was forbidden to record when it was a public road and it was of public interest.
After that, two men, who were also covering information, were pushed by these men, preventing them from covering the event, even though the press men managed to identify themselves, as can be seen in a video, these workers did not let them take photos or record, until they almost caused their work equipment to fall.

The workers, as seen in a video recorded by another journalist, even pushed one of the journalists. The woman even joined in the attack, while the journalists defended themselves since it was a public place and did not represent any risk.
Given this fact, the College of Journalists and the National Association of Journalists demanded that the authorities investigate, identify and punish those responsible for preventing the coverage of information that is of public interest.
As of press time, neither the company Jubers SAC nor the regional government, the entity executing the work, have commented on the measures with its workers, by intimidating the press and violating their rights to information.
It should be noted that the overturning of a cistern occurred yesterday morning due to sediment on the corner of Huancavelica and Lima.
