French striker Saint-Maximin leaves América

The French striker Allan Saint-Maximin was discharged on Saturday Club America from Mexico days after the player denounced on his social networks that his daughters suffered racism.

The Mexican club reported the player’s departure after registering its first victory in the Clausura tournament after beating Necaxa 2-0 on the fourth day.

“Thank you very much for having worn our colors, Allan Saint-Maximin. We wish you much success in your future projects!” América published on their social networks.

Minutes after the publication, the technical director of América, the Brazilian André Jardinereported that Saint-Maximin’s departure was due to the racism suffered by his daughters, although local media reported that it was also due to a strong argument between the player and the strategist.

“Unfortunately, an act of racism against his daughters, it was more than once, he does not tolerate that, neither do we, he looks bad. We must combat racism, there is no room for that, this week it was one of the issues we had to deal with, a shame, he is a great player who was doing well for the league, who has the level of playing in any league in the world,” Jardine said at a press conference after the game.

“Within the group we had no problem, it was an act of racism with his daughters that has already been repeated. We regret that we could not help him adapt, we hope he finds a club to be able to enjoy playing,” he added.

Before the match, the American players came out to warm up wearing t-shirts that read “No to racism.”

Saint-Maximin arrived at América in 2025 and scored three goals in 15 games.
