The US Embassy in Cuba assured that the Government of its country “is willing” to send more aid to the victims of the Hurricane Melissa on the island.
The statement was made the diplomatic headquarters in their networks by sharing a publication from Cáritas Cuba about the arrival this Friday at the Holguín airport of the fourth installment of the humanitarian donation that Washington allocated to those affected by the hurricane in eastern Cuba.
That fourth shipment in particular will go to the affected families of the diocese of Bayamo-Manzanillo, as reported by Caritas.

Both publications emphasize that the donations would always be for “ordinary Cubans,” confirming Washington’s demand that the aid not be managed or remain in the hands of the island’s government, at a time when the Trump Administration has strongly increased its pressure on Havana and has announced tariffs for countries that send oil to Cuba.
The fourth installment
The fourth shipment of US aid is made up of 588 food batches and 585 hygiene kits, which will be distributed in communities of Cauto Cristo, in the province of Granma.
Cáritas Cuba pointed out that the donation will be delivered “gradually” through a network that includes “volunteers, Parish Cáritas teams, diocesans and local religious orders.”
In addition, he explained that the distribution will follow “the selection criteria according to the degree of impact and vulnerabilities” that include “single mothers with small children, older adults, people with disabilities and people with reduced or no mobility.”
Like previous deliveries, this shipment traveled accompanied by a representation of the Archdiocese of Miami.
The total aid announced by Washington to the victims of Melissa in Cuba is valued at 3 million dollars. Their first two shipments arrived on January 14 and 16 and were delivered to communities in Holguín and Santiago. The third He arrived just this week in Santiago de Cuba.
Donations have included rice, beans, oils, sugar, water purification tablets, pots, cooking utensils, blankets and flashlights.
The arrival of this humanitarian assistance occurred more than two months after the hurricane hit and in a context of renewed tensions between the Governments of Cuba and the United States.
For this reason, the Cuban authorities have considered the moment of delivery as a political act, although they assured that they accepted the donations “without conditions” because they directly benefit the affected population.
