The Minas Gerais Fire Department rescued, around 2pm this Saturday (31), the girl Alice Maciel Lacerda Lisboa, aged 4, who had disappeared last Thursday (29), in a forested area in the village of Bituri, in Jeceaba, metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte.
It was located by local volunteers who were part of the task force made up of firefighters, civil and military police, Civil Defense agents and residents of the region. After being spotted, the Fire Department was notified and rescued the girl.
The corporation published on social media an image of Alice Maciel in the arms of one of the rescuers. “After 48 hours of searching, girl Alice was found alive”, says a firefighter in the publication.
Shortly after the rescue, she was taken to hospital. According to firefighters, the child was found well, with vital signs preserved and some grass marks on the body.
“Soon he will be with his family”, says a rescuer.
Disappearance
Almost 40 firefighters participated in the search operation, which began on Thursday afternoon. The searches also included scanning drones and thermal cameras. Firefighters classified the search area as a difficult-to-access forest.
During the search campaign, the family reported that the girl has non-verbal autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and does not know how to communicate, in addition to needing to take controlled medication.
Amber Alert
A publicity campaign was shared on social media. The Ministry of Justice and Public Security activated the Amber Alert network – focused on missing people – to spread alerts in search of Alice’s whereabouts.
The platform was developed in the United States and integrates civil police across the country with Meta, the company responsible for Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp.
When a child disappears or is kidnapped, the system is activated, and a statement is sent to Meta’s platforms to publish the statement within a radius of up to 160 kilometers from the location of the incident.
