Huancayo Box reported record profits of S/278 million in 2025, a figure that its president, Felipe Atoche, described as “impressive”, positioning the entity in seventh place among all those in the Peruvian financial system.
A set of actions formed the fund’s strategy that allowed it to grow in healthy conditions. Ramiro Arana, Business Manager of the entity, specified that goals such as growing new debtors and building loyalty to keep them within its portfolio of exclusive clients helped register a low delinquency ratio.
“Our overdue portfolio went from representing 4.63% of total loans in 2024 to 3.79% in 2025, thanks to our more conservative credit policies,” said Arana.
In the other component of intermediation, the savings bank led the growth of deposit collections with an increase of more than 12%.
No less important was the organizational culture and the constant training of personnel to strengthen human capital. In that sense, Rafael Camayo, Administration Manager of Caja Huancayo, highlighted the sense of commitment of his collaborators as the trigger for the results achieved.
“One of the values of Caja Huancayo’s collaborators is heartfelt commitment. We work so that the collaborator feels that Caja Huancayo is their home, their family. We consider that we have been achieving this through the low turnover indicators that we have in the system,” said Camayo.
Corporate governance
For Atoche, throughout this process it has also been important to have the IDB Invest as a strategic ally. He maintained that his participation makes it possible to provide solidity and confidence to the organization.
“It also gives us the security that we will always be accompanied by a world-class entity,” he commented.
He added that all these strategies have been relevant to face a complicated panorama, marked by both political turbulence and citizen insecurity.
“There are many bands that do not allow small and micro entrepreneurs to perform in the best way. We are constantly looking for the best way to reach our clients with the best conditions to help them face this problem,” said Atoche.
Amparo Action
The president of Caja Huancayo also spoke out about political interference by Congress in the boards of directors of the savings banks, which was unconstitutionally legalized in the 2026 Debt Law.
He revealed that the entity filed an amparo action in Huancayo to suspend the application of the rule, which has already been admitted.
“We have stopped the Congress of the Republic from intervening in the fund, especially in the Huancayo Bank. I am sure that the other banks will follow the example we are giving,” he concluded.
